TurnAround, Inc. provides a 24/7 Helpline for sexual assault and domestic violence victims in Baltimore City and County. The Helpline provides the following vital services:
Crisis response and referrals for survivors
Access to ER victim advocates for police officers and SAFE Programs
Baltimore County Lethality Assessment Project
This Helpline would not be possible without volunteers. Under the supervision of the Helpline Coordinator, volunteers will provide coverage for all shifts. These shifts can be covered from the volunteer’s cell phone or landline phone.
Requirements for Helpline Volunteering
Complete a criminal background check
Attend training sessions and complete at-home training modules
Complete additional 4 hours of continuing education each year (opportunities will be provided by TurnAround)
Attend monthly evening volunteer meetings
Sign up for at least six (6) shifts per month (can be split between ER and helpline)
Complete and promptly submit paperwork on each emergency room visit or helpline call received
We also offer volunteer opportunities at our Drop-In Center, and through our case management and advocacy programs.
